Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream

Multi-purpose products are a must in my skincare regime. Spending a little bit of money on something that you can use for multiple purposes definitely makes the purchase less painful. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream is the perfect example of one of these products.

This is the queen of multi use. The website alone offers up about 8 different ways that the cream can be used. For me, I like to apply it to my lips as a deep moisturizing treatment and also to especially dry areas or small cuts or burns. It provides an instant relief. The texture of the 8 Hour Cream is less like a cream and more like a gel. It has a Vaseline type greasy feeling, but sinks right into the skin unlike Vaseline.

A lot of people are offended by the smell of this product. It definitely has a medical, citrus-y scent that at first took me off guard. But after using it for quite a while I've come to enjoy the smell as weird as that sounds! If you do find it off putting, the 8 Hour Cream also comes in an unscented version. I'd recommend it if you have severely dry skin or chapped lips! Bonus - it won't break the bank since it can be used for so many things.

The Subtle Red - Revlon Rich Girl Red

Confession: I suffer from bold-lip-phobia. Phew, now that that's out of the way I can move on to overcoming my fear. Recently, I've been getting more and more into the idea of trying out new colors, red being on the top of my list. Still, I can't imagine pulling off a super bright, super noticeable bold lip in public quite yet...

Enter Revlon Rich Girl Red. Coming from the new summer range of the ever-famous Super Lustrous lipsticks, this shade is the perfect "starter" red. The Revlon website describes this "Shine" range as a lightweight, moisturizing formula and I definitely agree. I would call it a subtle red with a glossy finish. Not only is Rich Girl Red an easy color to wear, the formula is also unbelievably comfortable. It's not hard to forget that it's even on your lips.

The best part? It only retails for $5.99 at Target!

Mad About Orange

Ever fallen in love with one color in particular? Right now, the color I'm "mad" about is orange. Something about orange just screams summertime. Makeup wise, I think it's a fun, unexpected pop of color that can take and ordinary look to extraordinary.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti -
What's not to love about the Revlon Lip Butters? I recently picked this one up on a trip to Target and haven't stopped wearing it since. It can look a bit scary in the tube, but once on the lips it smooths out to a perfect muted orange. This works in favor of my bold-lip-color-phobia. Tutti Frutti is a perfect way to dip one's toes into the sea of all things orange!

Rimmel Show Off Lip Laquer in Luna -
Finally! The super-hyped Apacalips have come across the pond! The U.S. name is "Show Off Lip Laquers" but they're the exact same formulation that you've heard your favorite British bloggers talking about for about the past year. Luna was one of the first colors that I bought (seeing as I'm only seeing orange these days) and I love it! One tip - the lighter colors in this range tend to be a bit more drying and feathery than the darker colors. Slip on a bit of lip balm before applying to solve this dilemma!

Essie Nail Polish in Tart Deco -
This is a polish that I'd put into the category "oldie but a goodie." Every summer it resurfaces from the depths of my collection. Although it could probably be classified as a coral, it definitely has a very orange undertone, which I think makes it unique. Essie nail polishes aren't my favorite seeing as they chip so easily on me, but this one is worth a try.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in Coral Oasis -
Okay, I don't think it gets more orange than this. I had heard great things about this range of blushes from Josie Maran, but hadn't tried anything else from the line so I was super skeptical about picking it up. But in the end I did, and I haven't stopped wearing it since! This tangerine colored cream (can I even call it that?) blush is the perfect way to spice up a dull look. It's called "gelee" for a reason--it literally feels like jello. It's super easy to apply. I usually just dab it on with my fingers then buff it out with a stippling brush. Plus, the formulation adds a softness to your cheeks that's really hard to describe. Just a really good all around product. Love!

Awkward First Blog Post

Hello!

My name is Holly and I am a 20-year-old studying Psychology and Literature. About a year and a half ago, I embarked on the one of the scariest adventures of my young life--moving 10 hours away from home to attend college in Chicago. My freshman year brought so many new friends, opportunities and memories that I am still to this day thankful for. Exploring unfamiliar places and things made last year very exciting.

Yet, throughout that same time, I feel as if I've lost a bit of myself. Being in a new place challenges a person to reinvent themselves in any which way they please. Although, this didn't work to my advantage. I feel the most "me" while I am at home in Kansas with my family and friends and spending so much time away from where I feel most loved has changed my spirit. The past few months have been a rough go for me, as I feel that I've lost a lot of the creativity and motivation that has inspired me throughout my life.

Jump forward to the birth of this blog. I have been hesitating to create my own little niche in the cyber world for quite some time, and I feel as if this is the perfect time. This is the beginning of my journey to becoming the "me" that I want to be.

Now that I am back home for the summer, I thought it would be a good idea to fill my time writing, talking, & blogging about things I love! Here goes nothing!
